Gear Selection
Always select the appropriate drive gear for your lens. Ensure it mates perfectly with the lens’s focus ring, with no slipping or binding, for accurate focus pulls.

Backlash Check
Before shooting, always check for any backlash in the follow focus system. A small amount is normal, but excessive backlash can lead to inaccurate focus.

Hard Stops Utilisation
Utilise the adjustable hard stops for repeatable focus marks. This is invaluable for actors hitting marks, complex rack focuses between specific points, or blind focus pulls.

Smooth Operation
Practice smooth, consistent focus pulls. The FF-4’s design aids in this, but the operator’s technique is still paramount to avoid jerky or noticeable focus shifts.

Rod Compatibility
Ensure your camera rig has the correct 15mm or 19mm studio rods and spacing to properly mount the FF-4.
