Avenger 20x20 Modular Overhead Frame

A robust 20×20 (6×6m) modular aluminium overhead frame for building big, even sources or negative fill. The sectional design assembles quickly, locks square with corner blocks, and breaks down for transport. Pair with 20×20 rags—grid cloths, Ultrabounce, muslin or solids—for exterior sun control or large, soft interior keys.

Overview

  • 20×20 / 6×6 m industry-standard size — fits common 20×20 rags.
  • Modular sectional frame — quick assembly, compact for transport.
  • Rigid corner blocks & pins — stable, square build.
  • Frame ears included — mounts to junior receivers with lollipops.
  • Works with diffusion, bounce, solids and chroma textiles.
  • Ideal for exterior sun control and big soft sources.
  • Perimeter bungee/tie-off points.
  • Aluminium construction — strong and corrosion-resistant.

Wind first
A 20×20 behaves like a sail. Always weigh stands (multiple sandbags each), add two or more guy lines per stand, and assign a spotter. If gusts rise, drop the rig—safety over shot.

Build flat, then lift
Assemble on the ground, pin all corners, tension any slack, then fit ears on opposing sides to keep the frame true before raising.

Textile tensioning
Start bungees from the centre of each side and work outwards to avoid bias; keep tension even to prevent wrinkles and “cathedraling.”

Choose the right rag
• Full/½/¼ Grid: progressively softer, more stop-loss; grid cloth is wind-sensitive—watch gusts.
• Ultrabounce: powerful, neutral bounce with good punch; place opposite key to lift overall levels.
• Muslin (bleached/unbleached): softer, organic roll-off; unbleached adds warmth.
• Solids: reliable negative fill to carve shape in harsh sun; safest option in wind.

Stand discipline
Use wide-base juniors/high-rollers. Aim a stand leg into the wind; keep mast vertical; avoid over-cranking risers.

Line of action
For walk-and-talks, offset the frame slightly forward of talent so the fall-off doesn’t dip mid-move; track with stands if needed.

Shadow control
Watch for edge shadows on wides—flag or feather the frame angle a few degrees to push the cut off-axis.

Cable & clutter
Keep guy lines bright-taped and routed outside foot traffic; mark perimeter with cones at night.

When space is tight
Consider a goalpost/low-profile truss or menace arm if stand footprints won’t clear set dressing or vehicles.

Reset protocol
If the textile billows or creases after a gust, lower, re-tension, and re-square before rolling.
