Classic Soviet optics rehoused by IronGlass and custom-tuned for a distinctive cinematic signature. This PL-mount trio—MIR-1V 37 mm, Helios 44-2 58 mm , Jupiter-9 85 mm—adds amber internal coating for warm highlights/skin, oval bokeh for anamorphic-style separation, and streak flare for expressive frames, while keeping unified 95 mm fronts and cine gearing for fast rigging.

Overview

  • PL-mount rehousing with long cine throws & 0.8-pitch gears; expanded scales.
  • Creative mods: amber internal coating • oval bokeh • anamorphic-style streak flare.
  • Unifying mechanics: 95 mm front diameter with 92 mm filter thread on the housing.
  • Full-frame coverage (per original optics) with compact, balanced barrels.
  • Characterful rendering: Helios swirl, Jupiter-9 flattering portraits, MIR-1V wide perspective.
  • Friendly for handheld/gimbal builds; consistent matte-box & motor positions.
  • Practical close focus for expressive inserts (see table below).
  • Vintage feel with modern reliability and repeatability.

Use Cases

  • Narrative, music promos and branded spots seeking in-camera character without true anamorphics.
  • Portrait-led work (85 mm) and dreamlike B-roll with controlled streaks and oval bokeh.
  • Run-and-gun rigs that benefit from unified fronts and quick swaps.

Shape the streaks
Place practicals just off-axis to draw a clean horizontal line; flag the upper lens edge or use a small eyebrow to tame multi-streaks on the 37 mm.

Lean into the amber
The internal amber coating warms flare and speculars—great for skin and “golden hour” without extra filtration. If it’s too warm, nudge WB cooler or add subtle minus-green.

Oval bokeh = depth
Shoot closer and open up (F2–F2.8) to accentuate vertical blur and oval highlights; stop down a touch when you want more structure with the character intact.

Control the Helios swirl
Keep backgrounds with point sources or foliage for visible swirl; centre subjects to avoid warping faces at the edges.

Contrast management
These can flare; add a top flag or black wrap when you need higher contrast, or embrace the bloom for period vibes.

Rig once, swap fast
Lock your matte-box and motor positions for all three—95 mm/92 mm geometry keeps changes quick on gimbal or shoulder.
