Edge control
After framing with shutters, slightly over-focus then back to hit the cleanest edge; uniformity is best near the centre of the zoom.
Plan the throw
At 15° you’ll get tight, punchy pools; at 30° expect wider coverage with softer edge fall-off—set distance first, then fine-tune zoom.
Boost without spill
The optical path reduces stray light; add black wrap/flags only when working near reflective surfaces to keep contrast high.
Gobos that read
For textured backgrounds, start with pale grey scenic and angle the head off-axis; add haze sparingly to reveal beams without killing contrast.
Iris for shape
The optional iris gives fast round pools and quick level trims without touching dimmer cues—handy during interviews.
