Experiment with the Dual Base ISO
The Venice 2’s dual native ISO is one of its most powerful features. The 800 ISO setting is ideal for daylight, while the 3200 ISO setting allows for clean, low-noise images in low light. Using the native ISOs will provide the best possible signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range from the sensor

Utilise Internal ND Filters
The motorised, built-in ND filters are a significant time-saver on set. Instead of swapping external filters, you can quickly adjust exposure in changing lighting conditions, which is especially useful for a run-and-gun documentary or a fast-paced commercial shoot.

Embrace the Sensor’s Dynamic Range
With up to 16 stops of latitude, the Venice 2 can capture a vast range of tones from deep shadows to bright highlights. When exposing, consider protecting your highlights, knowing that you have plenty of detail available in the shadows to recover in post-production.

Consider the 8K Sensor for Versatility
Shooting in 8K provides a huge amount of flexibility for 4K and 2K projects. You can crop, stabilise, or re-frame shots in post-production without a significant loss of resolution, which can save time on set.

Focus on the Sony Colour Science
The Venice 2’s colour science is known for its film-like feel, natural skin tones, and rich colours. While grading, you can often start from a very good place with minimal adjustments needed to achieve a pleasing final look.

Optimise for Rigging
The camera’s compact body and modular design make it adaptable for various setups, including Steadicam, gimbals, or cranes. When rigging, remember to take advantage of its multiple mounting points and smaller footprint compared to many other high-end cinema cameras.
