This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technician who is looking to take the next step in their career. As XO continues to grow, we are looking for someone who can take on increasing responsibility within the technical team, develop their leadership skills and, for the right individual, progress into a technical management position. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring our equipment is prepared, maintained, and delivered to the highest possible standard, while also providing technical support to our clients and developing more junior members of the team.

In addition, everyday there are opportunities to work alongside some of the UK’s most talented Directors of Photography and camera crews as well as engaging with people from all levels of production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing, checking and maintaining broadcast and production equipment to a consistently high standard.
  • Working across cameras, lenses, lighting, grip and associated production equipment.
  • Carrying out detailed pre and post rental checks and ensuring equipment is correctly prepared for each job.
  • Providing clients with technical advice, demonstrations and equipment support.
  • Supporting and mentoring Junior Technicians, sharing knowledge and helping develop their technical skills.
  • Taking responsibility for the smooth running of kitroom operations and helping to maintain high standards across the department.
  • Assisting with workflow planning, equipment allocation and prioritisation during busy periods.
  • Working closely with the wider XO team to ensure equipment is delivered accurately and on time.
  • Contributing ideas and improvements as the company continues to develop its systems, equipment offering and technical operations.

About You

We are looking for someone with at least 2 years’ experience within a broadcast, film or television equipment rental environment, with a strong practical understanding of production equipment. You will ideally have extensive knowledge of cameras and relevant accessories, lenses, lighting, grip and audio equipment. You will also have excellent attention to detail, strong organisational and time-management skills, and the confidence to work with both clients and colleagues in a professional and positive manner.

As a senior member of the team, the ability to lead by example, communicate effectively and support the development of others is particularly important.

A full, clean driving licence is required.

This is a key opportunity to join XO at an exciting stage of its development. We are a growing company and want the people who join us to grow with the business. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take on greater responsibility as the technical department develops, with a clear pathway for the right individual to progress towards a Technical Management position.

We are particularly interested in someone who is technically strong but also has the ambition and potential to develop their leadership, organisational and people-management skills.
