The Tilta FF-T03 is a single-sided manual follow focus designed for DSLR and compact cine camera rigs. It mounts to 15mm LWS rods and combines fluid damping with adjustable hard stops for controlled, repeatable focus pulls. Interchangeable gears and supplied lens adapters make it compatible with a wide range of cine and stills lenses, while the open design keeps setup straightforward.
Overview
- Single-sided manual follow focus designed for DSLR and compact cine rigs.
- 15mm LWS rod compatibility for straightforward integration with common camera support systems.
- Adjustable hard stops allow repeatable A/B focus marks.
- Fluid damping system provides adjustable hand-wheel resistance.
- White marking disc allows custom focus marks to be drawn directly onto the wheel.
- Includes photographic lens adapters for lenses without built-in cine gearing.
- Open mounting design lets the follow focus be fitted without stripping other accessories from the rod system.
Use Cases
- Manual focus control on DSLR, mirrorless and compact cinema-camera builds.
- Lightweight shoulder, tripod or handheld rigs where a full wireless lens-control system is unnecessary.
- Repeated focus pulls between two marked positions using the adjustable hard stops.
Set the damping to suit the lens.
Use the adjustable tension control to give the hand wheel enough resistance for precise pulls without making the system unnecessarily stiff.
Use the hard stops for repeatable moves.
When pulling between two known distances, position the adjustable A/B stops around those focus marks. This makes repeated takes quicker and reduces the chance of overshooting.
Check gear mesh carefully.
The drive gear should engage firmly with the lens without forcing the lens barrel sideways. Too much pressure can introduce stiffness or make the focus movement uneven.
Use a lens gear adapter on stills lenses.
Photographic lenses often have smooth rubber focus rings rather than cine gearing. Fit one of the supplied adapters before engaging the follow focus.
